How we choose and how we score

Where the data comes from

Every page combines two layers we never mix. The first is facts: price, average rating, review count, images and the published spec sheet, taken from the product page on Amazon and completed, where they're missing, from the manufacturer's official site. The second is judgement: the scores, the pros and cons and the per-game analysis, which are our opinion and are always labelled as such.

What we do when a figure is missing

We leave it empty. A “—” on a page means neither Amazon nor the manufacturer publishes that figure. We prefer a table with gaps to a table with estimates dressed up as data.

How the scores are calculated

Each product gets five scores from 0 to 10: precision, response speed, ergonomics, build quality and value for money. They're assigned by comparing the product within its own category, based on the spec sheet — polling rate, actuation distance, weight, response time, materials — and on expected in-game behaviour. An 8 for speed on a mouse doesn't mean the same as an 8 on a monitor: each category is scored against its own rivals.

These scores are not lab measurements or manufacturer data: they're our editorial judgement, and they're labelled that way on every page.

Buyer reviews

The review summary on each page is written by reading the opinions shown on the product's own Amazon page, negative ones included. We don't invent testimonials and we don't hide recurring criticism: when a product has a pattern of failures, we say so.
