Technical benefits: what it actually gives you

Less contact area, less static friction

The effort it takes to start a movement — static friction — grows with the area resting on the pad. Swapping large skates for dots cuts that area, so the mouse breaks away sooner for the same wrist force. You feel it most in micro-adjustments: those one-centimetre movements where a large skate eats half the travel just overcoming inertia.

You tune speed and control yourself

Because they're modular, you decide how many dots to use and where: four dots give a fast glide, six or more add control and stability. It's tuning your mouse the way you'd tune tyre pressure, and it's impossible with a one-piece skate.

PTFE versus UHMW-PE

PTFE (the material in Teflon) is the slipperiest and usually the pick for tactical shooters. UHMW-PE glides a little less but lasts longer and does better on glass. Choosing the material is, literally, choosing your braking curve.

How it performs by game type

Tactical shooters

Valorant · CS2
9/10

The cheapest change with a real effect in a tactical shooter. With less breakaway friction, crosshair micro-adjustments take less force and less tremor, and stopping dead becomes more predictable. Give it a few days of adjustment to the new glide before you judge it.

Mechanical speed and precision

Rocket League
8/10

Long camera swings benefit from a constant glide with no sticky spots. Less critical than in a shooter, but welcome over long sessions thanks to the lower wrist fatigue.

High click-rate PvP

Minecraft
8/10

In PvP with lots of fast turns, continuous glide avoids the micro-snags that throw your camera off when you drag the mouse. Watch out with aggressive dragging techniques: dots concentrate wear on less surface.

Mixed competitive play

Roblox
8/10

A cheap, universal upgrade for any mouse, whatever the tier. If your mouse has spent months on worn factory skates, this makes more difference than buying a new mouse.

Pros, cons and who it's for

Strengths

  • The best improvement-per-euro upgrade in the whole setup
  • Modular format: you choose how many dots and where
  • Pure PTFE, with a UHMW-PE option for more control
  • Clean residue-free adhesive, fitted in minutes
  • Compatible with most mice

Weaknesses

  • They're thin: on very plush cloth pads some reviews find them insufficient
  • The manufacturer doesn't publish the exact thickness
  • On mice with a deeply recessed skate bed they may not sit well
  • Concentrating contact on less surface means faster wear

Ideal for: Anyone whose mouse no longer glides like it did on day one and wants the biggest improvement available for under $25.

Review summary

4.4 (215)

Most reviews describe an immediate improvement in glide and a two-minute installation. The recurring criticism is thickness: some buyers consider them too thin for thick cloth pads and note they do better on glass or hard surfaces.

Simple and Useful

Perfect skates for normal mouse pads. I used 4 on my mouse, and it had perfect glide. Not much else to say.. perfect!

Totally Worth It!

I seriously just got these and put them on in a few minutes, and the difference was immediate. My mouse feels faster, lighter, and way more smooth across my desk. I actually felt like it was going to slide out of my hand. Installation was super easy, too! Honestly one of the best and cheapest upgrades I’ve made to my setup. Highly recommend these if your mouse feels sticky or sluggish at all.

good

decent, works obviously best on their glass mouse pads but are too thin for normal mouse pads like cloth, don't work well with the Logitech G pro 2 superlight and I would only recommend to those with hard pads or glass

Wallhack Ontop

Wallhack Mouse Skates Pros: good for gliding and light weight mouses, put 2 of them of the mouse ring and it can spin, very low level noise Cons: None
